Brand by Me turns 9: The Number of Change

On 9th March, 2025, Brand by Me turned 9 years old. 9 years of building brands that drive social justice. 9 years of leading by example. 9 years of being….the best kept secret in the world of branding (if you know, you know - and our clients KNOW). But that last one may not be a good thing. So, at 9 years old, it feels like a good time to reflect and look forward to the exciting stuff we’ve got on the horizon. 

The number 9 is bold. It’s a number of transformation, completion, and stepping into a new level of impact. And that’s exactly what we’re doing this year.   In our 9th year, we achieved record turnover, worked on our biggest ever client projects, and we’ve just completed phase 1 of a ground-breaking innovation project funded by Innovate UK - to build an AI-powered anti-racist brand platform. In the Bible, the number nine is the number of finality, the number of completion, maturity, and fruit-bearing. For us, there’s nothing final about this year, but we’ve reflected previously on things that we want to leave behind or even prune - so that we can bear the full fruits of our creativity and passion for what we do. And our DISMANTLE anti-racist brand platform represents ALL of the beautifully mature and ripe fruits of our labor. 

 

In numerology, 9 represents wisdom, revolution, and a deep sense of purpose—everything our anti-racist brand consultancy stands for. Because we know that wh*te supremacy is not a shark; it’s the water. Systems of oppression are not a threat to the ecosystem—they are the ecosystem. And to dismantle these established systems of oppression, it will take a revolution. Which is why we work with brands who are ready to revolutionize the way they do things. 

Nine is the last single-digit number, signaling the end of an old cycle and the start of something new. That’s exactly what we do: help brands close the chapter on performative allyship and step into real, unapologetic action. And that’s why we’re launching DISMANTLE LIVE 2025. In April, we’ll be taking a cohort of brand leaders and changemakers from insight to action - using our anti-racist brand platform to create change. And we’re opening for applications. We’re looking for leaders and changemakers who are ready to use the power of brand to drive change. Who are fed up with the “Anti-DEI rhetoric”  and are ready to do things differently to have a sustainable  impact? Who are ready to lean into discomfort and commit to tangible action.
